Organisational Re-design
A division of a government agency undergoing commercialisation realised that it was not getting the help it needed from a Support Branch. A review of the branch indicated that to effectively support the change to commercialisation it must change its primary role from administration to strategic management. This required the formation of a small semi-autonomous team of strategic management specialists and a reduction in administrative staff. Work involved the design of new reporting lines and job descriptions, recruitment of some new staff and design of career transition strategies for existing staff who had the potential to fill the new positions.
