Review of Organisational Performance

If your strategic plan defines what you are changing to, a review of organisational performance describes what you are changing from.  The review can be of a whole organisation or be limited to one business unit or function within the organisation.  It provides essential input to the strategic planning process. You may be satisfied with your success to date or you may feel you should be doing better. In either case, your continued success depends on an understanding of what has worked (or not worked) for your organisation in the past and whether similar strategies will work in the future.

The review must be objective, and consider all options for improving business performance.  Many managers find that they are "too close to the business" to both maintain this objectivity and to look beyond currently applied solutions.

Change & Perform will conduct this review of organisational performance by evaluating:

·         Your organisational values and competencies and the impact they have had on your success to date,

  • Possible effects of these values and competencies on future performance,
  • The financial, human and technological resources you have at your disposal, and,
  • Your current ability to quickly respond to new customer needs and environmental risks or threats

Typical Assignment

Review of the performance of a business unit in a large government bureaucracy that was required to rapidly commercialise its operation.  Identification of the impact that current competencies and values had had on performance to date and prediction of their effect on the branch’s ability to survive in a commercial environment.      Assessment of progress made toward achievement of commercial management capabilities by senior managers.  Identification of issues that would need to be addressed in strategic plans.
