Strategic Planning

Strategic Planning is the process used by successful organisations to decide what are the right things to do. In large organisations, the role of Strategic Plans is to set direction and allocate resources to each strategy while delegating responsibility for implementation to business units. Corporate Planning is the highest level of Strategic Planning.

Small organisations may have one plan only, which is both a Strategic, and a Business Plan.

Change & Perform can assist your Strategic Planning by:
1. Ensuring all relevant information (from inside and outside your organisation) is available for inclusion in Strategic Decision-making.

2. Using participative management techniques to involve critical stakeholders in planning processes.
3. Developing a planning framework that is "best practice" for your particular organisation.
4. Coaching your managers and staff to understand this model and participate in developing their plans.
5. Writing up your Strategic Plan or plans.

Typical Assignments

1.       The design of a planning framework for a large government utility. The framework explained the purpose, process and minimum content required in eight cross-functional strategic plans and seven directorate business plans to ensure effective implementation of the Corporate Plan.

2.       Preparing a Road Safety Strategic Plan by achieving consensus between a diverse group of stakeholders including three Government agencies, several community lobby groups, a motoring organisation and a parliamentary committee.

3.       Preparation of a Strategic Plan for a small, recently established company.   The strategic planning process included an analysis of the company's performance to date, interviews with the CEO, major customers and other critical stakeholders and a short strategic planning workshop.
